starting soon an advance exclusive myspace preview in full for 1 week of the sons new ep prior to release scheduled mid December then samples will be streamed until further full previews to be arrranged around press in the new year,the ep will also contain a collectors out-take bundle.
have just heard the magazine track light pours out of me...great...imagine that meets the action...just in from the sons recording session at air studios in north london,a good but really too busy a day,the drums are spot on target from dave,great attitude and so refreshing,cheers mate,welcome aboard and garys bass so melodic reminded me a bit of some early british 60s film in imagery in part and his part on collage sounded like charles mingus...great,big thanks to marc"the modernist" for keeping me slightly sane,production and additional keys,also thanks to john the engineer whos just worked with ray davies and assistant adam...you just cant reach that at home on a computer,the original neve,george martin console sounded great,highlight for me was getting to play the actual hammond organ that a town called malice was played on...next step 2 days at RAK to complete with tim...getting excited about the new recording it all fits in well with the others sons songs makes it more complete but i wanna show things keep moving,it wont sound like anything else out there right now and all those other bands...never did and i never wanted it to...it will just sound right!
i hope some serious gigs for the sons come up in the new year,i really do,a reason...i feel so fortunate to have been led where i been going...
new recordings etc should be up on myspace in early november for a quick peep pre release,so dont forget to download the free sampler and also to get over to iTunes for the 2 sons eps and own them cos theyll be coming off the myspace streaming player very soon to make way for the brand new music

lilly allens blog on file sharing...its worth a read...im not discussing anything else here just that there are so many valid points in it that i hope maybee some music lovers get to read...its been spoken about in depth before in previous sons blogs and now heres someone else thats saying it...thats all...so maybee go to her myspace and read her blog...richard hawley...i just grabbed a read of an interview with him thats all and found it interesting,again my thoughts echoed in past sons blogs...anyway it ran along the lines i think of something like,you just make your art and good things follow and on the subject that his new tracks are past the six minute mark in length he was saying that hes trying to make an allbum to listen to and not aiming at an audience with a one minute attention span...
good sentiments i thought,the thought i had in mind as well though is just make sure you are able to hit with those 3 minute jabs of songs too...

i just found this in a book,yeah a book,sometimes i need a break from the net how bout you,sometimes i wonder where all this is going,the need for total information at all times,the errosion of privacy...i dunno,i like the instant factor of technology like in recording it has a valid and instant appeal but think about all the dross music recorded on a laptop in someones kitchen or something...its like some common sense somewhere,whens this goverment going to actually create low carbon and skill based jobs for people to actually have the option of doing,i dunno cos life in a factory isnt me nor is it for everyone,i seem to spend a lot of my time just ambling,and doing things i enjoy,im lucky,im trying to shine...but it seems a case of them passing the buck...anyway back to this little book,its nothing to do with the music really i dunno,i just liked it...its from peter blake the pop artist...

...collage can encompass anything where something is attached to something else...in both 2 and 3 dimensions...that can include even television and music i just want to extend the limits and not simply present the accepted definition...i realised i could base my work on my life and the things i was interested in...i suppose all artists feed on other artists.you have to take a certain direction.its a rarer and more modern phenomena to actually recreate and appropriate...

obviously guitar textures and vocals were first runs so need to be refined.theres some "more felt than heard" cellos and violins (ala abbey rd) to be higher in m8 accompanied by a hollies top boost guitar plus some gtr overdubs that may be a little quite,the first ones got a sitar attached that im chuffed about but along with the keyboards i quite like the illusion that that they should sound like a varispeeded guitar that way it keeps it all economic and the continuity line kept.ive deleted some fuzz guitar on the outro to keep it tight
i dropped in some bass notes just for depth and the drums are in the right feel
structure wise the h/hat drop out section D-G will be halved happening once and the outro G-A-E will be 10 progressions not 16 that along with a quicker overall tempo driving melodic bass and final drums should all flow i hope,i mean i want an impact with it all!

bass wise im thinking beatles type loop for section1 and precious or some new wave atonal influenced minimal and tight line for section 2 the danger here would be for us to get all funky and clever...its a soho boxing club workout!

jumped into studio 1 the room were english rose was recorded,what a room and the inspiration followed,my accoustic and 2 ribbon mics,so i started getting from the bizet classical stops and maybee something jazz timing i was trying to get and found that little debussy type flourish,it will be introduced by a feedback line sliding down and then strings on the end cadence joining the phased trumpet and climbing synth
its been nice
essentially same structure as the sons sesions but a LIVE version the guitar indicates a different solo and break down/build up outro

ive got some inspiration from it all lately i liked individual tracks really,that little boots track plus theres been some more avante garde rhythmic stuff stuff out there but was there ever really an electro revival thing trying to be launched through coloured knock off ray bans,utterly worthless,heres the thing, for all these acts,and thats the phrase cos it is an act and could well be the last and its gonna be its own stupid posh little fault playing catch up,to be friends,to pretend its all ok,well the message here is no.we were warned but probably powerless to change anything as it cynically became something an infant wouldnt find challenging,it could have had the (from over the pond to the british)funk...
transient pop culture should be good even if it aint really that good.in my mind it can be vital.messengers listeners and makers,kind little gods,little daydreams on the bus full of perfume,hope and struggles...well thats how the poem goes...and so behold the music was kept spiky tho the rickenbackers were shiny...
personally ive come through and maybee always have and will have been in the saddest and also spiritually happiest time. a lot of the universal answers have come to light.its personal so no need to go on but maybee you can identify too.i carry on and know im really watched in the most amazing and gentle way,as always,i think its divine consciousness THE reality,together forever,the eternal begining.connection intact and the same.
its a delicate ideal but im pushing it strong and getting towards that musical peak.
on 5 seconds i was thinking of that thing,you know,the universe in a raindrop,that lightning flash of understanding,however big or small it is to comprehend,..thats a law for everyone then set that against how as an individual or as a group you stand in a system,how you drift apart,stay together,get through.i imagined different societys,a family society or the irony of a super efficient totalitarian society somewhere
it started out a soul ballad then moved onto this,the words and music i tried to keep poetic,..soulfull,..energetic but clip in that i suppose british economic way,theres got to be something somewhere even in the state this place is becoming

should be starting new sons demos in a few weeks so expect full recordings gigs sights and sounds (still looking for a full time drummer) exciting plans on there way
its been the toughest few weeks of my life.
for the next week or so i wont be around that often but will be checking in occasionally to read messages etc
